A new chapter in the life of Let’s Go Country Bed and Breakfast has begun. We have turned the page in our nine years of raising one of Texas finest animals The Texas Longhorns. These beautiful animals and are truly Texas at its finest. Often these hardy animals are lovingly referred to as ‘Texas’ Art on the Hoof”. It is exciting to see the coloration of a new born calf. The colors and designs can be as different from their parents as can be. It is almost as if God takes special pleasure in painting each one to be unique. We were sad to see them go.
We do have some new animals. In March we partnered with the Waco Humane Society in a new program called “Barn Cat Buddies”. This program was developed to give feral cats a new lease on life. Prior to this program feral cats could not be adopted into a home and had to be put down. Now these cats have the opportunity to be useful members of society and do what they do best and that is to keep the barns clear of mice. Our two new friends are named Milk and Marley. We seldom see them as they live in the barns but every now and then one of them will leave a ‘present’ in the door way to the barn to let us know that they are on the job. Quite frankly we have never been ‘Cat People’ until we moved to the country. After having a couple help out around the place and seeing their antics we don’t want to be without a good farm cat. Our dog, a Welsh Corgi named Augie, could do quite well without them as he chooses to ignore them most of the time. So come on down, or up which ever the case may be, and enjoy the quiet of the country without the mooing. |
